launch break...
Another busy day at work, this time without much chance of a rest for one reason or another, although I was able to watch the successful launch of Space Shuttle Discovery this afternoon on BBC News 24.
Now that is something I would love to witness (as close as is practicable to) first hand sometime in my life. It's on the listy, as well as Princess Juliana Airport on St Maarten and The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
Google Earth... it certainly inspires wanderlust!
Links of the day:
- www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv : streaming TV and audio coverage of the space flight - it's so strange to hear the voices from space.
- bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/3351/page/vc : a collection of google earth links to tall buildings around the world.
- www.googleearthhacks.com/downloads : Lots of really cool spottings on Google Earth...

*sigh* How many times do I have to tell you that I'll take y'all to KSC if and when you ever tell me when you're coming across the puddle? I saw three launches up close (as close as they'll let you get, anyway) in the very early years (early 80's) and still run out of the house to see if I can see the glow of the mighty engines as she slips the surly bonds of Earth. I'd love an excuse to see another one at close range.
